Grandma Savage

Over President's Day weekend, my mom traveled to Logan to visit her mother, so I traveled from Rexburg to Logan to visit MY mother and grandmother! Most of my life my Grandma Savage has had Alzhemier's. Even though she doesn't know who I am, I always feel a special connection with her.
I remember summers sitting on her porch swing as she repeated the same stories of her brother Everett and their horse. Eating Sandies- those pecan cookies, watching Jazz games, and cuddling at night.
She now lives in an assisted living home. She's in a wheelchair and can't formulate words to communicate but I think that sometimes she understands whats going on. This last weekend she actually made eye contact and smiled at me! When I hugged her she hugged back. That doesn't sound like much but I had a moment where I knew my Grandma wanted to express her love to me and it was great!

I also caught a great picture of her with my mom.
